It's about the newest member of each family. Sure you got it from the title itself. I m talking about the new gen. phones that makes your life perfect, known as Smartphones. It is a gadget compatible of performing nearly every computing task your desktop can perform. From Playing Music to Cloud Computing, from Calling to GPS Navigation, it helps you in every possible way.
Root Or Jailbreak

Now, since these smartphones have an OS just like your PC, you can root or jailbreak it, same as you change your Windows OS. Rooting or Jailbreaking is the process of accessing root access to program files of mobile OS, which your smartphone manufacturer has restricted deliberately.

So why is rooting an option for you?? What are the Pro's N Con's of rooting or jailbreaking your smartphone?? Here's a list:

1. Rooting means gaining access as Administrator in OS. You can change anything you want. Feels good, isn't it??

2. It removes barriers like Network Lock from smartphones.

3. Root access is the base of flashing new firmware in your smartphone. After root, you can install Custom ROM's containing upgraded OS for your phone.

4. Sometimes, root is required to add a feature in smartphone like Wi-Fi Hotspot and many others.

5. For lower-end smartphones built with less technical features, rooting opens a new world for developers to operate on them. It helps in installing hacks, tweaks and mods for your phone.

6. A large community of developers works day n night to provide as many features with great stability for your smartphone.

7. Root helps in increasing the Internal Memory of your phone. For lower-end smartphones with smaller memory size, root proves to be a boon for them.

1. Without proper knowledge of rooting, it can corrupt the OS and your phone will become useless box. It is also known as bricking of smartphones.

2. You gotta think that your Smartphone manufacturer restricted root access to it's OS, so you can not create a mess of your phone.

3. Rooting or Jailbreaking has no use when your phone has already got the upgraded OS with better apps and features.

4. It takes a lot of effort to flash Custom Rom for updating your phone to newer firmware. If done wrong, you are solely responsible for damaging your smartphone.

5. Rooting voids the warranty of your smartphone.

6. Whether you like it or not, Jailbreaking a new iPhone is illegal in some countries like United States.

7. Root and Unlock are separate things. Unlocking a smartphone means using the services of all service providers which is safe, but Rooting means messing up with the OS itself, which is dangerous and unsafe for newbies.
